Christmas is over and New Year's Eve is upon us. So, the holidays are basically over and I will soon be experiencing a slower period at work. When you work for a soda company, holidays are a major pain....long days, busy stores, and no opportunity for enjoyment of the holidays. January marks 14 years doing this job, and I just keep hating it more and more.
I don't normally do New Year's Resolutions, but I figure I'll give it a go. Maybe putting there here where I can refer back and keep track of what I said will help.
1. I would like to be debt-free aside from my house. All we have at the moment is my wife's car, scheduled to be paid off in September, and the bill from her on-going medical procedures on her eyes. Until we are finished with that, I see no reason to pay it off as they are letting us make monthly payments. I paid off the credit card bills last month after returning from Las Vegas, and now I just need to refrain from using them.
2. Continue to add to the emergency fund. 6 months worth of living expenses is the long-term goal, and I have a good start going.
3. Become more focused on schoolwork, as it is the key to a new career and enjoying the holidays again. The better I do, the more opportunities I should have. Looking into job opportunities now isn't out of the question, but I have to figure out how to get around the "experience required" issue that most jobs in the accounting field are asking for.
4. Keep up on this blog. So far, not a bad job, but not a lot of readers either, so it is what it is. A nice little habit, although if life becomes to busy, it can be put to the side and resumed when possible.
That's a good start....Hopefully next year at this time I can look back and be happy with my efforts and/or accomplishments!!
Oh, and Go IRISH!!!!! National Championship game is gonna be intense!!!
