This weekend I will be attending the Cubs Convention in Chicago. It will be my first time attending. I won't be there for all of the events, however, as I am taking the train up and back. I will miss most, if not all, of the 3 hours Friday night, and all of Sunday. I will be there for the full day of activities on Saturday. I will also be hoping to meet up with some people I follow on Twitter after the events Friday and Saturday nights for a drink or 2. I am hoping to get some autographs; meet some of the current and former players, manager and coaches, owners, and upper management; and meet a whole lot of crazy Cubs fans. While I won't get the full experience due to my late arrival and early departures, I intend to be back again in the future, and be more prepared in terms of what to expect and to be able to attend the whole weekend's worth of activities. I intend to try to do a writeup when I get back. I don't know how detailed it will be, as it depends on how much I can absorb from my first Cubs Convention, but I will do my best not to let you readers down. I would love to get over to Hammond, IN, for poker at the horseshoe Saturday night, but a 30-minute cab ride each way isn't too appealing, so it's very unlikely. However, never say never!
Also, I contacted a potential employer yesterday. I had an interview, and a 2nd interview, back in November. They had left me a message saying they didn't anticipate filling the position until after the holidays, but that I was the frontrunner at the time. This was back in early December. The HR woman said they were hoping to make a final decision today, and she was hoping to get back to me this afternoon. However, this afternoon passed with no phone call either way. I am hopeful that I will still be offered the job, as they haven't seemed to be in to much of a rush to fill the position thus far. It would likely be a pay raise, and definitely be a better opportunity with potential for advancement in the future, unlike my current position/employer. My fingers are crossed that I will hear something good tomorrow and have reason to celebrate while in Chicago this weekend.

What's the admission price to a Cubs convention?
ReplyDeleteThe 3 - day pass is $65. They were sold out by the time I was able to decide to go so I had to get a hotel package, 2 nights plus the 3 day pass for $500.
