Well, yesterday was the day I took the GMAT. I had been studying quite a bit up until late April, and the practice test I took reflected that, with a score of 610. I wasn't able to get the test date I had wanted, so I signed up for yesterday's date, and ended up not studying much more. Friday I took another practice test, and ended with a score of 580. I did some review, mainly focusing on the essay portion of the test. Yesterday, after taking the test, I received the results of the Verbal and Quantitative sections. The Integrated Reasoning and Writing sections are not included in the main score, and in fact the essay has to be graded still. However, my base score is 590. This is above average overall for test takers, and it's also better than the average to get into Bradley University, where I applied. The average score of students in the Master's Program there is 553.
I have now completed all parts of the application process. I will send my tentative result to Bradley tomorrow. However, the official results will not be available for 20 days. At that time, they should be able to process my application. With any luck, sometime in the next month or so I will know for sure if I am accepted to start on the Master's of Science in Accounting Degree this fall! This would allow me to celebrate in Vegas while I am there in July.
After the test was done, with the weather being beautiful, I decided to go fishing. I had a little luck, catching 8 bluegill and a 10 inch crappie. Being the middle of the day, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it wasn't bad. I have come to the realization that I need much more practice at filleting fish however. I'm not very good at it, and it's something I didn't get a chance to learn from my dad. Hopefully with more practice I'll get better. Anyone have any tips??
Currently I have no plans for Memorial Day weekend. The weekend after that I'm going to see the Cubs play, and the following weekend will be a road trip to Indiana to buy some party supplies for a party on July 3rd. The weekend after that is free, and the weekend after that, July 17th, is Vegas!! Should be interesting, going with my wife and another couple, who have very limited Vegas experience. The wife has never been, and the husband only once. Also, as they're not poker players, my poker time will definitely be limited. I do intend to play the Venetian Deepstack Event on July 20th however; it's a $400 buy-in NLHE Bounty Event, with a 30K guaranteed prize pool. $100 bounties should make it interesting.
I will keep you updated of anything I hear regarding the application....Hope I have good news to report soon!!
