work

Let me start off by saying that I work 2 jobs. I have 1 full-time job where I've been employed for 10 years. I also have a part-time job that I've held for approximately 3 years. I have 2 jobs due to a financial situation I got myself into involving a car loan and an ex-girlfriend....yeah, I made that mistake.

Anyhow, the part-time job is at a convenience/liquor store....Yes, that alone will make for some interesting blogs as I work Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights, and Saturday nights especially can be interesting. Last night wasn't too interesting, but I did have an underage kid come in and try to buy beer. It doesn't happen often, and I'm 99% positive that it was a sting operation. There was a guy who came in, browsed a little, and a few minutes later this kid came in. He grabbed a 6-pack, and I asked for his ID. He showed it to me, and it clearly showed he was underage. I told him no, he left, and a minute or so later, the other guy left. Now, when you get arrested for selling to a minor, the cop has to see it happen, so they're always in there, "undercover" to see it.

Aside from that, nothing interesting happened....Some nights there are drunks coming in, and who knows what can happen...I've had them argue with me, try to steal stuff, try to bring their dogs in, loud, cussing, obnoxious....you name it, I've seen it.....The only thing that hasn't yet happened is someone trying to rob the place.....that's only happened after hours so far. I've always said that if it ever happens when I'm here that will be the last time I come to work without my gun. lol Kids have to be watched also....especially in this neighborhood, they try to steal a lot it seems. Maybe it's because I grew up in the country and never went to a store without a parent, but I never even thought of stealing from a store.

Lottery tickets are big sellers here....The store I work at sold at least 3 big jackpot winners in the state lottery back in the 80's, and we still sell quite a few winners on the scratch-off tickets, so people are always trying to be the next big winner. Yes, that includes me, and I'll let you know when I hit the jackpot!!

That's it for now.....hope you're doing well!

  1. WOW...does this mean you are handing lottery tickets out as party favors for the wedding? I can still claim if I won cuz I'm listed as an Illinois resident :)
Keep of the fab job at work in not letting them get away with taking stuff!
